NW Call to Action
Lasso
When I was in Savannah this past January for the Georgia Dairy Conference, I was able to meet Nicole from Lasso. Lasso allows you to sign-up and be notified when grant money is available in your industry.
No more searching the web for programs or missing out on funding! I don't have any affiliation with them but thought it was a very neat idea and something you should know about. You can learn more about them on their website: Lasso - Home

True Profitability and Benchmarking
I love balance sheets. I'm a big nerd over them. They are one of my favorite things to review (and I've reviewed several thousands of them over my career). Balance sheets and everything about them (working capital, net worth, trends) are my bread and butter.
Farm balance sheets have looked BAD these last 3 years. Huge working capital losses. Large equity losses. Positions have flipped in less than half a decade. Why is that?
Terrible margins in the cash flow.
I get cash flows, but I'm not the expert on them. I can't help you with cash flow like I can with a balance sheet. Which is why I recently worked on a project with Shay Foulk of https://www.agviewsolutions.com. Here is a sneak peek behind our discussion:
Question: How do I understand my true profitability beyond surface level numbers?
Answer:
Question: Do you have any benchmarking data around input costs for me to compare to?
Answer:
Question: If you are planning to, or just moved back to the farm, what should you be focused on?
Answer:
The conversation continued. We got into other questions like:
Where should you be cutting expenses first?
How do you trim without sacrificing yield?
How do you balance short-term limited cash vs. long-term profitable investments?
Should I repair my equipment or replace it?
and so much more.
These answers were all a part of my Margins Cohort. You can access the entire recording right here:
But it wasn't just the conversation with Shay that took place. The Margins Cohort also covers:
How to market your grain when margins are tight with Angie Setzer,
Using AI to on the farm with Nick Horob,
Along with a feature around how to manage cash when cash is short.
All 4 recordings are included. If you are serious about turning the tide and making 2026 profitable when past years haven't, check it out.
P.S. You can get the Margins Cohort for FREE! HOW?!
It's included in Yield Circle, a peer group to prepare you to: Buy ground, Cut expenses, and Grow profits. And Yield Circle has a new price point. See it here.
Make it a great day.
